By Elise Weller, Director of Child Care Services
Sue Williams began her career with us in June of 2011 as Toddler Teacher and has continued her professional development by taking courses at Berkshire Community College. Sue has achieved her Lead Teacher Certification in both the Toddler and Preschool ages and works at our Redfield Early Education and Care Center on Elizabeth Street in Pittsfield.
Sue is very dedicated to her job. She loves being with the children and helping them to navigate this big world. She not only cares for children within the classroom but also reaches out to support them and their families. Sue will assist families with connecting them to community services when needed, finding extra clothing, providing a backpack, adjusting teaching methods to allow for individual successes, or simply lending a parent an ear or shoulder to lean on.
In the classroom, Sue uses her knowledge of child development to create an exciting curriculum for the children. She always has an activity that draws the children in, from butterflies to sea creatures and cardboard box rocket ships. You will often see Sue and her co-teacher with the children at the Berkshire Museum or viewing the city displays in the roundabout. We always say children learn best by following positive examples. Sue sets this example by leading the children in fun outdoor activities such as jumping in the sled, rolling down the hills, and splashing in the puddles!
Sue is an all-around great, enthusiastic, and caring person with a soft spot for each of ‘her’ children. Sue is a joy to work with!
