Family Support Specialist - Berkshire County

Full time position at our Pittsfield location as a home visitor for families in Berkshire County that have been referred by the Department of Children and Families. The Family Support Specialist also facilitates supervised visitation between referred parents and their children. The successful candidate must have dependable transportation, excellent organizational skills, good writing/computer skills; Bachelor Degree preferred and two years of relevant experience. This position also requires knowledge of strengths-based engagement with at-risk children and families, good skills in collaboration and communication, and a good understanding of community-based resources. Senior Accountant/Supervisor


18 Degrees is where new beginnings come to light for children and families – and could be where your new career does the same!  The Senior Accountant/Supervisor is a full time role working as part of our Finance Team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.  Main responsibilities include:
  • Ensure the accuracy of general ledger and subsidiary ledgers by verifying income and expenses associated with all program activities, fundraising, and management and general.
  • Performing a daily cash flow analysis in order to maintain a proper cash balance in the Agency’s bank accounts and borrowing on the line of credit, when necessary.
  • Ensure financial compliance with contract reporting requirements for funding sources.
  • Prepare monthly billing for various cost reimbursement contracts, grants, and other billing as needed, includes verifying accuracy of expenses as related to budgeted line items.
  • Verifying that internal controls are followed in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices.
  • Preparing and entering general journal entries as necessary for allocation of costs.
  • Performing and managing the month end closing procedures, including the verification checklist and printing of the monthly financial statements.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
  • Supervises the accounting team and is able to fill in for the Finance Director in their absence.
 Qualification Requirements: Education:  B.A. in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred. Experience:   Minimum 3-5 years experience in an accounting/finance position required with 1 year in a supervisory role.                       Use of accounting software is essential; strong computer and people skills are required. Qualification Requirements: Education Preferred: A.S. preferred or equivalent experience Experience: 3 years experience working with At Risk and/or Proven Risk youth preferred. Experience working within local community agencies/employers in a human services capacity (with gun violence and/or gang intervention/prevention experience preferred).
